“If only nature always dealt with us as beautifully as this disc does” – Jeff Simon, The Buffalo News
“there’s no denying that it is a compelling and powerful piece of music” – Richard Marcus, BlogCritics Magazine
“…this music succeeds on its own, as a finely realized ambitious chamber project showcasing the virtuosity and stylistic range of a trumpeter who’s one of the most exciting voices ton the horn to emerge in this new century.” – George Kanzler Hot House Jazz Magazine
“…trumpeter Avishai Cohen’s pure, sweet trumpet tone and bent notes allow him to create sound pictures that depict gentle raindrops, a giant deluge, the eventual overflow and final sunshine to complete the cycle” – Jim Santella, All About Jazz
In part two of his “Big Rain” trilogy, trumpeter Avishai Cohen presents an intensely intimate recording featuring an unusual Piano (Yonatan Avishai) Percussion (Daniel Freedman) and Trumpet trio. The music, described by Cohen as “an instrumental meditation born of two notes” is haunting, touching and deeply spiritual, exposing yet another side of what DownBeat Magazine calls a “Singular Musicianship.”
Avishai Cohen: Trumpet
Yonatan Avishai: Piano
Daniel Freedman: Percussion
Artist’s Statement:
This recording is an instrumental meditation born of two notes, painting the cycles of the sun and the moon, while the flood washes the earth. Nature does not lament the flood nor resist it, but rather accepts it as its own.

Difficult to name a favourite track, however if I was forced to choose an all time favourite album this would certainly be up there at the top. I'm in the UK but it was a friend in South Africa that introduced me to Gondwana. Absolutely beautiful album from start to finish, amazing musicians and composition both. Thank you, it inspires me to become a better musician. rai scott
